What Does The Bible Say About Healing?
We seek healing in some shape or form on a regular basis. We seek physical healing for major and minor damage. We seek healing of our hearts when we lose a loved one, when we are hurt by another, or when a relationship ends. We seek healing when tragedy strikes. We seek healing of our soul when we have strayed from our faith. Where is God when we are seeking restoration?
James 5:14-15 – Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
Job 5:18 – For He wounds, but He binds up; He shatters, but his hands heal.
Matthew 8:15 – He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him.
Luke 10:9 – Heal the sick in it and say to them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you.”
Luke 13:12 – When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability.”

God is the Great Physician, and shows us that with the many miracles he reveals to us in the Bible of physical healing. Jesus exhibited the will of God by healing the sick during his time on earth. We know of God’s ability to heal physically, no matter what our prognosis may be. If it is His will to further glorify His works, he will heal us.
1 Peter 2:24 – “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

When we stray from our faith and return, we seek healing directly from God. We can restore our souls with God by departing from our ways that led us away from Him. He assures us that we can seek Him, we will be heard, and He will heal our souls with his forgiveness and grace.

Our hearts are broken when life circumstances happen, giving us a different approach to seeking healing. Often times, medicines and remedies are given to provide physical healing, but a broken heart must be healed from within. Seeking God during our times of emotional despair can allow us to find a source of comfort.
Helping Others Heal

Psalm 41:3 – The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness, You will sustain him on his sickbed.

Matthew 11:28 – Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
While he is capable, God does not promise to immediately heal us. However, He does promise to provide us rest during our journey to healing.
