Jesus Heals the Woman with the Issue of Blood
Mark 5 tells how a woman suffering from bleeding for twelve years touches Jesus’ clothing in faith and is healed while Jesus is on the way to Jairus’s house.
Jesus Heals the Woman with the Issue of Blood
A woman in the crowd has suffered from bleeding for twelve years.
Mark says she has endured much under many physicians, spent everything she had, and become worse rather than better.
Having heard about Jesus, she approaches from behind.
She believes that if she can touch even his clothing, she will be healed.
The woman touches his garment, and immediately the bleeding stops. She senses in her body that she has been freed from the condition.
Jesus immediately recognizes that power has gone out from him and asks who touched his clothes.
The disciples are confused because the crowd is pressing against him from every side.
Jesus continues looking for the person who touched him.
The woman, trembling and aware of what has happened, comes forward, falls before him, and tells the whole truth.
Jesus addresses her tenderly, tells her that her faith has made her well, and sends her in peace.
The delay appears costly because messengers soon arrive reporting that Jairus’s daughter has died. Yet that surrounding story will also end in restoration.
