BIOGRAPHY

The Story of Esau

Esau is born before his twin Jacob and grows into a skillful hunter. Hungry after returning from the field, he sells his birthright to Jacob for food. Isaac favors Esau and later intends to give him the primary blessing, but Jacob receives it while disguised as Esau.

Esau plans revenge, prompting Jacob’s departure. Years later, when Jacob returns, Esau meets him with an armed company but embraces him rather than attacking. Genesis 36 traces Esau’s family and repeatedly identifies him with Edom.
