Colossians 2:9 explicitly states that in Christ dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, directly affirming the divine nature of Christ and supporting the doctrine of the Trinity. The surrounding verses emphasize the completeness and sufficiency of Christ, reinforcing the theological point without distortion.

Isaiah 48:16 is a complex passage where the speaker says, ‘I am,’ and mentions ‘the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me,’ which some interpret as a hint toward a Trinitarian understanding. However, the passage is poetic and prophetic, and its primary context is God’s declaration of His sovereignty and the sending of a messenger. The text does not explicitly define the Trinity but can be seen as suggestive, requiring careful theological interpretation.

John 14:16-17 clearly presents Jesus speaking about the Father sending ‘another Comforter,’ the Spirit of truth, who will dwell with and in believers. This passage strongly supports the doctrine of the Trinity by distinguishing the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as distinct persons who relate intimately with believers. The surrounding verses reinforce the unity and mutual indwelling of the Father and Son, providing rich context for Trinitarian theology without distorting the original meaning.

John 15:26 explicitly identifies the Comforter (Holy Spirit) as sent by the Father and testifying of Jesus, clearly illustrating the distinct persons of the Trinity and their relational roles. The surrounding verses reinforce the relationship between the Father, Son, and Spirit, providing strong contextual support without theological distortion.

Ephesians 4:4-6 explicitly references the unity of the one Spirit, one Lord, and one God and Father, which is a foundational text often cited in discussions of the Trinity. The passage emphasizes the oneness and distinct roles within the Godhead, fitting well within the topic of the Trinity without distorting the original meaning. The surrounding verses reinforce the theme of unity in the body of Christ, providing strong contextual support.

Isaiah 9:6 is a Messianic prophecy describing a child with divine titles including ‘The mighty God’ and ‘The everlasting Father,’ which some Christian traditions interpret as indicative of the Trinity. However, the passage is poetic and prophetic, and its direct reference to the triune nature of God is debated among scholars. The surrounding context emphasizes the coming of a ruler from David’s line who will bring peace and justice, supporting a Messianic interpretation but not explicitly defining the Trinity. Therefore, while relevant and distinctive for the topic, the passage requires careful theological interpretation and is best reviewed rather than outright approved.

1 John 5:7-8 in the KJV includes the Johannine Comma (verse 7) which explicitly mentions the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost as ‘these three are one,’ a direct reference to the Trinity. However, this verse is widely recognized as a later textual addition not found in most early manuscripts, making its theological use controversial. The surrounding verses discuss the testimony of the Spirit, water, and blood concerning Jesus Christ, which relates to the witness of God but does not explicitly define the Trinity. The passage is contextually relevant to the doctrine of the Trinity but requires careful theological and textual consideration, hence genuine ambiguity exists.

Philippians 2:5-8 clearly presents Christ as existing in the form of God, being equal with God, yet humbling Himself by taking human form and becoming obedient unto death. This passage is a foundational text for understanding the incarnation and the nature of Christ in relation to God, which is central to the doctrine of the Trinity. The surrounding verses reinforce the exaltation of Christ by God the Father, emphasizing the unity and distinct roles within the Godhead without distorting the original meaning.

Luke 1:35 describes the Holy Ghost coming upon Mary and the power of the Highest overshadowing her, resulting in the birth of Jesus, the Son of God. This passage implicitly references the involvement of the Father (the Highest), the Holy Ghost, and the Son, which can be related to the doctrine of the Trinity. However, it does not explicitly define or explain the Trinity as a theological concept, so its topical application requires interpretive caution and theological context.

Colossians 1:15-17 clearly presents Christ as the image of the invisible God, the agent of creation, and the one sustaining all things, which strongly supports the doctrine of the Trinity by affirming the divinity and preexistence of the Son. The surrounding verses reinforce Christ’s divine role and relationship with the Father, providing rich theological context without distortion.

Isaiah 44:6 emphasizes the oneness and uniqueness of God, declaring ‘beside me there is no God,’ which aligns with strict monotheism rather than an explicit doctrine of the Trinity. The passage identifies the LORD as the first and the last, titles later associated with Christ in the New Testament, which can be interpreted in Trinitarian theology, but the text itself does not explicitly teach the Trinity. The broader context stresses God’s singularity and sovereignty, making this passage more about God’s exclusive divinity than a direct statement on the Trinity. Therefore, while it is relevant to discussions about God’s nature, it requires careful theological interpretation and should be reviewed rather than approved outright.

Genesis 3:22 contains the phrase ‘as one of us,’ which some interpret as a hint of plurality in God, potentially relating to the Trinity. However, the passage is ambiguous and does not explicitly teach the doctrine of the Trinity. The context is the aftermath of the Fall, focusing on man’s knowledge and God’s judgment, not a direct theological exposition on God’s nature. The passage requires careful theological interpretation and should not be used alone to define the Trinity.

2 Corinthians 3:17 states ‘Now the Lord is that Spirit,’ which can be interpreted as identifying the Lord (Jesus) with the Spirit, suggesting a unity of persons consistent with Trinitarian doctrine. The surrounding verses discuss the Spirit of the Lord and transformation by the Spirit, providing good context. However, the passage does not explicitly define the Trinity or the distinct persons within it, so its application to the topic requires theological interpretation and is not definitive on its own.

The passage explicitly mentions the Spirit, the Lord, and God working together in unity, which aligns with the concept of the Trinity as three distinct persons yet one God. The surrounding verses clarify the roles of the Spirit and the Lord, supporting a Trinitarian understanding without distorting the original meaning.

John 20:28 records Thomas addressing Jesus as ‘My Lord and my God,’ which is a significant declaration of Jesus’ divinity and is often cited in Trinitarian discussions. The surrounding context confirms the resurrection and Jesus’ identity as the Son of God. However, the verse alone does not explicitly explain the Trinity doctrine, which involves the relationship between Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Thus, while highly relevant, it requires theological interpretation to connect directly to the Trinity concept.

Luke 3:21-22 clearly depicts the presence of the three distinct persons of the Godhead: Jesus the Son being baptized, the Holy Ghost descending like a dove, and the Father’s voice from heaven. This passage is a classic biblical text used to support the doctrine of the Trinity, showing the simultaneous manifestation of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The surrounding verses provide context about John the Baptist and Jesus’ genealogy, which do not detract from the passage’s clear Trinitarian significance.

The passage references God, Christ, and the Spirit in a way that can be related to the Trinity, mentioning God who establishes and anoints, Christ in whom promises are affirmed, and the Spirit given as a seal. However, it does not explicitly define or explain the Trinity doctrine, requiring interpretive connection. The context supports the unity and work of the Godhead but is not a direct doctrinal statement on the Trinity.

Matthew 1:23 explicitly identifies Jesus as ‘Emmanuel,’ meaning ‘God with us,’ which is a foundational statement supporting the doctrine of the Trinity by affirming the divine nature of Christ. The surrounding verses provide important context about the virgin birth and the role of the Holy Ghost, which together imply the involvement of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. However, the passage does not explicitly define the Trinity as a doctrine, so while it is highly relevant, it requires careful theological interpretation to connect fully to the topic.

John 14:10 and its surrounding verses clearly present Jesus’ intimate unity with the Father, a foundational text for understanding the relational nature of the Trinity. Jesus emphasizes that He is in the Father and the Father in Him, indicating a mutual indwelling that supports Trinitarian doctrine. The context includes Jesus’ explanation to Philip and the disciples about seeing the Father through Him, reinforcing the concept of one God in three persons without confusion or separation.

Hebrews 1:3 explicitly describes the Son as the ‘brightness of his glory’ and ‘express image of his person,’ affirming the divine nature and unity with God the Father, which is a foundational text for the doctrine of the Trinity. The surrounding verses further emphasize the Son’s superiority over angels and divine status, providing strong contextual support without distorting the original meaning.

The passage discusses the Spirit of God revealing divine wisdom and knowledge, implying a distinction between the human spirit and the Spirit of God, which can be related to Trinitarian understanding. However, it does not explicitly define or elaborate on the Trinity as a doctrine. The surrounding context emphasizes spiritual wisdom and revelation through the Spirit, which supports a Trinitarian interpretation but requires theological inference.

1 Timothy 2:5 explicitly states there is one God and one mediator, Jesus Christ, emphasizing monotheism and Christ’s unique mediatory role. While it touches on the relationship between God and Jesus, it does not explicitly articulate the Trinitarian doctrine of one God in three persons. The passage is relevant to discussions about the nature of God and Christ’s role but requires careful theological interpretation to connect directly to the Trinity.

Hebrews 9:14 mentions Christ offering himself through the eternal Spirit, which can be seen as a subtle reference to the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). However, the passage primarily focuses on the efficacy of Christ’s sacrifice and the purification of conscience rather than explicitly teaching the doctrine of the Trinity. The context discusses Christ’s priestly role and the new covenant, which relates indirectly to Trinitarian theology but does not develop it fully. The mention of the ‘eternal Spirit’ invites theological reflection but is not a direct exposition of the Trinity, thus requiring careful interpretation.
