Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.
What does Romans 8:28 mean?
Paul expresses confidence that God works in all things for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose. The surrounding chapter places that confidence amid suffering, weakness, and hope.
God can work within circumstances we would never have chosen.
Romans 8:28 for your life
Grief
This verse should not be used to call your loss good. Its hope is different: even circumstances that are painful and unwanted are not beyond God’s ability to work within his larger purposes.
Starting Over
Starting over often follows something you never wanted to happen. This verse leaves room to believe that God can still work within a story whose earlier chapters you would not have chosen.
