Proverbs 3:5–6
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
What does Proverbs 3:5–6 mean?
Proverbs calls for wholehearted trust in the Lord rather than ultimate reliance on personal understanding. Acknowledging God throughout life is connected with his guidance of our path.
Trusting God means allowing him to shape the direction of our lives beyond what we can understand ourselves.
Proverbs 3:5–6 for your life
Direction
You do not have to understand every step before taking the next faithful one. This passage encourages you to bring the whole path under God’s direction rather than waiting until you can personally guarantee the outcome.
Starting Over
Starting over often means moving before the entire route is visible. This passage does not promise a detailed map. It calls you to trust God enough to acknowledge him while taking the path one step at a time.
Work
Career decisions can make us believe that enough analysis will eliminate uncertainty. Wisdom matters, but this passage reminds us not to make our own understanding the highest authority guiding the decision.
