Philippians 4:6–7
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
What does Philippians 4:6–7 mean?
Paul responds to anxiety by directing believers toward prayer, petition, thanksgiving, and trust. The promised peace is described as guarding the heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
Prayer creates a place to bring anxiety rather than allowing anxiety to carry everything alone.
Philippians 4:6–7 for your life
Anxiety
This passage does not tell you that anxious circumstances are imaginary. It gives anxiety somewhere to go: into honest prayer, specific requests, gratitude, and dependence on God.
Motherhood
There is always something else a mother can worry about. Paul’s invitation is not to become indifferent, but to repeatedly turn those concerns into prayer instead of carrying every possible outcome alone.
Work
Deadlines, uncertainty, and responsibility can keep the mind running long after work stops. This passage offers a practice: name what you need, bring it to God, remember what is still good, and entrust the outcome to him.
