James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
What does James 1:5 mean?
James encourages believers who lack wisdom to ask God. The invitation rests on God’s generous character and is especially relevant in the chapter’s larger discussion of trials and perseverance.
When we do not know what to do, asking God for wisdom is itself a wise first step.
James 1:5 for your life
Direction
Not knowing what to do next does not mean you have failed. James gives you a concrete response to uncertainty: ask God for wisdom and trust his willingness to give it.
Parenting
Parenting regularly presents situations no handbook anticipated. This verse gives parents permission to admit they do not know and to make asking God for wisdom part of how they lead their family.
