Isaiah 43:2
When thou passest through the waters, I [will be] with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
What does Isaiah 43:2 mean?
Isaiah uses the images of deep water and fire to describe severe trials. God’s promise to Israel centers on his presence and preservation through those trials rather than exemption from every hardship.
The promise is not that we avoid every difficult passage, but that we do not pass through it alone.
