2 Corinthians 4:16
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward [man] is renewed day by day.
What does 2 Corinthians 4:16 mean?
Paul contrasts outward decline with inward renewal. In the larger passage, present hardship is viewed in light of eternal realities, allowing believers to resist discouragement even as life takes a physical toll.
Visible wear does not mean that inward renewal has stopped.
2 Corinthians 4:16 for your life
Getting Older
This verse speaks unusually directly to the tension of aging: the outer person changes while the inner life can continue being renewed. Aging does not mean spiritual growth has reached its expiration date.
Grief
Loss can leave you feeling worn down in ways other people cannot see. Paul acknowledges real outward affliction while holding onto the possibility that God can continue renewing something within you.
